Mabry Middle School Chorus
Tonight was the first recital for the Mabry Middle School Chorus. It was held at Sandy Plains Baptist Church. There was a huge turnout with a standing room only crowd. The sixth grade class was seated on stage and started the performance. They sang two songs, both of which are available for viewing below.
The boys chorus sang second followed by the seventh grade, the girls chorus, and the eighth grade. Each group only sang one or two songs. So, the evening was over pretty quick. Overall it was a good show.
Scotty sings National Anthem at World Series
Since I just posted a review of his latest album, Clear as Day, I thought it was ironic that he sang the National Anthem for the opening of the World Series. At just 18 he showed a lot of poise when he realized that his microphone wasn’t turned on. Although not my favorite rendition, it was much better than the recent butcherin jobs by Christina Aguilera and Beyonce.
Scotty McCreery – Clear as Day
Last season was the first time that I watched an entire season of American Idol. But, from day one it was apparent that Scotty McCreery was different from the rest of the competition. Every week he was always my favorite and I was glad to see him win it all.
So, when his first album hit the street I was quick to add it to my iTunes collection. I must admit that my collection of Country music is quite limited, so I don’t have much to compare this album to. I have listened to it about a dozen times now and I am happy to report that there isn’t a single song that I want to skip.
The album is well put together with a combination of fast and slow songs, sad songs and upbeat ones. If you didn’t know who Scotty was, you would think he is much older than 18. He has an amazing deep voice that is perfect for country music. Based upon this album, I think that he will have a long and successful career.
Coldplay – Mylo Xyloto
On October 24, 2011 Coldplay will realese their fifth studio album. Klare and I are anxiously awaiting their latest album.
Last month we went to Music Midtown just to see Chris Martin and his band. It was quite an experience as there were thousands of people already camped out in the park. We managed to squeeze our way fairly close to the stage. It was standing room only and some people were determined to continue to push closer even though there wasn’t any room. The music was amazing. They played songs from all of their albums and even played an REM song. (REM announce their break up on Sept 21) I was surprised that they didn’t play “Every Teardrop is a Waterfall” as the song has been playing on the radio for some time now.
Check back in a few days to get the full review.
Website Themes
After several years of ignoring the Bodycomb.net website, I finally decided to make some upgrades. I first moved all of the photos to a new PHP program called Piwigo. This was no small task as there are over 2800 pictures online. I like the organization a lot better along with some neat features such as linking to Facebook.
The next task was to update the front page. After searching the internet for ideas I knew that I wanted a nice clean site that had a link index at the top of the page and could display several pictures. I found a WordPress theme made by Site5. that was exactly what I was looking for. I already had WordPress installed on my website, so I just changed to the Boldly theme and made a few customizations. Now I am very happy with the look of the new site.
Looking forward to the weekend
This weekend is shaping up to be a good one. The much needed rain has moved out and clear blue skys prevail. The temperatures are nice and cool and the leaves have started to turn colors. There is a lot of softball on tap starting tonight with a pitching lesson at Premier Sports. Then a game Saturday morning and Sunday evening and a travel team practice between the two; just for good measure.
And with any good fall weekend, there will be lots of football. GT plays Virginia on Saturday in what should be a good match-up as GT isn’t as good as their #12 ranking might suggest. But I’m still holding out hope that they continue to play well and possibly play for a conference title and BCS bowl game. The Falcons play Carolina and rookie QB Cam Newton. The Falcons have been playing horrible and probably won’t make the playoffs this year, but this should be a fun game to watch.
Anyway, here is to the weekend!
