Layers Magazine
I recently ran into this great Adobe tutorial website called LayersMagazine. I was most interested by all the video tuturials on Photoshop. The 3D techniques in CS5 are amazing. I really wish that I was an expert at Photoshop as it is such a fun and powerful program.
Family night

Last night the family all got together for a wonderful roast dinner. Jack and Nathan had spent the night with Mimi and Papa. We arrived around 4:30. Papa was busy in the kitchen and Mimi and the Covingtons were in the back yard. Lily quickly got passed between Klare and Bailey. She is such an adorable little girl with those blue eyes and pretty smile. The little ones got together for a photo opportunity. Getting everyone to smile together was nearly impossible.
We moved into the TV room and anxiously awaited Papa’s famous roast dinner. All attention was on the Yorkshire Pudding. Bailey even took a picture of it as she helped Papa in the kitchen. The boys played with cars and legos and Lily sat on a blanket playing with a Mardi-Gras necklace.
We all moved into the dinning room as soon as the roast was finished. It was cooked to a perfect medium temperature. The Yorkshire was a big hit as usual and a new favorite for Jack and Nathan. To accompany the roast was roast potatos, mashed potatos, peas, and brussel sprouts. Dinner was great…as usual.

First Tournament
The Sandy Plains Fire 2000 team played their first tournament together this past weekend. The tournament was held at Al Bishop Park in Marietta and there were seventeen 12U teams entered. The first two games were pool games which are simply used to rank the teams.
The first game was against the GA Fire team who are one of the stronger teams around as they have been playing together for several years (they eventually won the entire tournament). Maura started pitching the game and did very well through the first inning. Our leadoff batter, Morgan, reached base and managed to steal home on a nice double steal. After the first inning the SP Fire was down 2-1. The second inning was when the GA Fire found a glaring weakness in our defense. They started to bunt the ball down the first base line. The defense was unable to stop them. After pitching through the lineup, Maura was replaced by Bailey. She didn’t have much better luck with the bunts either. The final score was 10-1. Read more >>
Free Handwriting Font Creator
A couple of days ago Bailey asked me if she could make her own font for the computer. I had done this with her a few years ago when I found a start-up website that was offering this service for free. That website now charges $10 for each font.
I had a little free time so I did a little surfing and ran into a site called MyScriptFont.com All you have to do is print and fill out the template. Then scan the page as grayscale at 300dpi and upload it to the site. A couple of moments later it creates a TTF font file.
Download the TTF file to your computer. Then open up Windows Control Panel and then open the Fonts icon. Drag and drop your TTF file into the Fonts Folder and Windows will instal your font. Open Word, select your font, and start typing with your very own handwriting.
